Vedic Civilization and Culture 2

Hi everybody. This is the continuation of the post on Vedic civilization. If you have not already read the previous post, you can read it here . In this post, I shall continue to discuss the Vedic literature. The Rig Veda is the book of lyrics . In Rig Veda, the first and the tenth Mandalas are said to be added later. The Sam Veda is the book of chants . It has approximately one thousand and five hundred verses. The person reciting the chants of the Rig Veda is called the Hotri whereas the person reciting the hymns of the Sam Veda is called the Udgatri . The Yajur Veda is divided into two parts- i) Shukla Yajur Veda and ii) Krishna Yajur Veda . The Yajur Veda consists of sacrificial prayers. It is recited by the Adhvaryus . Indian Constitution and Polity 4

Hi everyone. This is the fourth post on Indian Constitution and Polity. In this post, I shall discuss the Parliamentary System of India. This part is almost indispensable for preparation of Govt. job examinations. The Article 79 of the Indian Constitution describes the Parliamentary system. The Parliament of India consists of the President, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Although the President does not sit in Parliament, he or she is a part of the Legislature. The main functions of the Parliament are I) Legislation (law making) II) Financial Control III) Control of the Cabinet IV) Criticism of the Cabinet . Without the President's assent, the bill passed by the House of Parliament can not become a law. Hi everyone. This is another post on Indian history. In this post, I shall focus on the Vedic civilization and culture. This is part of the category ancient Indian history. Ancient Indian history plays an important role in Govt. job examinations such as UPSC, SSC CGL etc. In this post and subsequent posts, I shall discuss the important facets of ancient Vedic civilization. There are many theories regarding the original home of the Aryans. According to some historians, the Aryans were native to the soil of India . Some other scholars propose that the Aryans came from Central Asia while some of the scholars believe the Arctic region to be the home of the Aryans. The Boghazkoi Inscription , found at Bogazkale, Turkey, bears testimony to the theory that mentions Central Asia as the home of the Aryans. Although India adopted the British model of Parliamentary form of Government , there is no crown as the Head of The State. India and United States of America are democracies but United States of America has a Presidential form of government , whereas there is a Parliamentary form of Government in India. The distribution of power for running the country effectively has been done on the Principle of ‘ Doctrine of Separation of Power ’. As you all know, it is a very important topic for Govt. job exams like UPSC, SSC CGL et al. In this post, I shall discuss a few key features of Indian Constitution. The Constitution of India has 448 articles in 25 parts . Apart from the articles, there are twelve schedules and five appendices . At the time of commencement , the constitution had 395 articles and 8 schedules . Article is the smallest unit. Numbers are assigned to articles.  Schedules are addendum at the end of the Constitution that may further add to the associated article or describe that particular article. An uppercase letter suffixed to a number, for example, 21A makes it an independent Article whereas a lowercase letter like Art 116(a) is a section of the Article 116 , not an independent Article.
